About Me
About Me
Hi there! 👋 My name is Taishalys Mesa, and I’m so glad you’ve stopped by The English Toolbox. I’m currently in my fourth year at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus, where I’m studying Teaching English as a Second Language (K–12) in the Faculty of Education. Teaching has always been a dream of mine because I love working with kids and helping them discover their potential.
Outside the classroom, I wear a couple of other hats too. I proudly serve in the Army National Guard, which has taught me discipline, leadership, and resilience—qualities that I also bring into my teaching journey.
Music is another big part of who I am. I play the guitar, and I’m a member of the Conjunto Criollo de Cuatro y Guitarra at UPR. I also play guitar at my church, where my faith is a central part of my life. Being Christian is something that grounds me and gives me purpose in everything I do.
When I’m not studying, teaching, or making music, you’ll probably find me on the court playing pickleball (my newest hobby!). It’s such a fun way to stay active and competitive, and yes—it’s as addictive as people say.
This blog is a space where I get to combine my passions—education, creativity, and community—while sharing tools and ideas that can make a real difference in the English classroom. Thanks for being here, and I hope you’ll join me in building this “toolbox” together.
